Liberty and Justice For…ever

On July 4, 1776, Thomas Jefferson and 55 others signed a Declaration of Independence from the King of England. Their resolve began with these words,

When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary to for one people to dissolve the political bands that have connected them to another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them…

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…

These words along with the list of grievances against the king and mother country describe the independence and national freedoms that were won in the Revolutionary War that followed. According to Wikipedia Online Encyclopedia an estimated 25,000 American soldiers died in the war, 8,000 in battle and another 17,000 from disease.

230 years later the US and England are arms-length allies; American citizens are divided over the policies of our own government; we disagree among ourselves what “unalienable rights” are “self-evident” and whether a drafter and signer deist like Thomas Jefferson ever intended the reference to “our Creator” to be thought of as the basis for a “Christian nation.”

Yet, these issues, like our national independence, as important and as duly celebrated as they may be, are of little significance compared to the citizenship that requires us to give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and to our eternal King and Savior what belongs to Him (Phi 3:20; Matt 22:21).

While it might seem hard to believe, before long, it won’t matter whether we have been citizens of America, Brazil, China, or Denmark. What will matter is a more important story of independence and freedom…

foreshadowed by the Exodus of a family nation from the slave-yards of Egypt…

and ultimately fulfilled by the voluntary death of the King of kings… who died and rose from the dead… to give us a life that will never end…

a pursuit of happiness with no regret…a citizenship that includes people from every nation… in the embrace of a liberty and justice that will never end…. when the fireworks of this weekend are over…

    First, I would like to tell you Pooh, my heart is with you, please look about this time like an oportunity to show Jesus to those that don’t see. Why they are blind, are lilke those fun cars crashing everywhere, even with us. But, last december, when mom went with Jesus, many received Jesus. A friend told me “I would like to have the peace you have” and she received Christ in her heart. Don’t worry about the birds, our inheritance is with Christ you know, just pray an surrender all in front of God. Love you. Hugs for you.

    Mart, independence is a good thing to celebrate, but in our minds the word could work badly, I wish everybody could be faithfully dependant from God, in everything. So, lets celebrate our dependence from God!!

    May God bless America! In spite of all of its shortcomings, I love this country because what the Declaration of Independence says and how many of us live up to its Words.

    Its truly rare that any country will allows its citizens to worship as they please. Granted we want all the world to be followers of Jesus Christ. But even Jesus Himself did not resort to the heavy handed approach of what so many governments are doing now.

    In spite of what the President said, the USA IS a Christian nation founded on Christian principles. Praise God for that! It is those Principles that allow any one from any creed or ethnicity to enjoy respect and admiration from one another and even become leaders of our communities and government.

    I still cant get over how in the middle of the word Jerusalem are the letters “U S A”. hmmmmm?

    Yes there will be the pursuit of happiness for all Gods people when the King of Kings comes back to rule and reign.But unfortunately the fireworks will just be getting started for the unsaved at that time with many many regrets.

    E pluribus unum > “out of many, one” always found this a compelling saying on our money. It is like the Holy
    Trinity to me, as one speaker I heard put it. Now our nations motto is “one nation under God”, they changed it the year I was born 56. (possibly no connection) Now they don’t want folks that have come together in a relatively short amount of time (some countries have buildings older than our history) as a God blessed great country to use the word God in schools and the pledge of allegiance!?
    Darrell Scott addressed the US house of representatives, on 5/27/99 after the death of his daughter at Columbine High School which his son lived to tell about and told them that on that day God was brought back into school and challenged young people to keep it that way. I,ll give to Caesar what is his until they start telling one of my kids or grand kids to not use the word God because of some law they passed. Then it will become a case of civil disobedience for me and my house. May God bless America and all the Christians in it…!

    May all of you have a blessed and wonderful 4th and remembering (in mind) the signing that day one of the most important documents ever written. Whatever they try and change by law still cannot change what is in our hearts. The word “CREATOR” was written and will remain there forever. What is truth will remain truth.
    Plumbape: a good reminder of the Latin phrase we all carried for years in our pockets, but not remembering. I try and share with people the vast difference between holding something in our mind verses in our HEART. Remember Jesus said:
    “WHAT COMES FROM THE MOUTH COMES FROM THE HEART. Satan knows he cannot steal anything from our hearts,even though Scripture says he will try with some people.

    Once you know what is the truth let no one
    (we fight against rulers, powers, in high places) steal from you. NO ONE.
    What bothers me is that people do not remember (some don’t even know) what the 4th stands for. Many do not care either. It’s a holiday, yay lets party. Lives lost
    as Mart reminded us (over 25,00) and all is forgotten. “That’s past, I live for now,” I hear most of the time.

    Mart, I loved your reminder or our freedom and the deaths that brought it about. As they say, “Freedom isn’t free”, and neither is our spiritual freedom from sin and eternal damnation because of the death of one man, Jesus. I praise God for those men who signed the Declaration. Most of them had difficult lives, lost their families and fortunes – and their lives. How many of us would be willing to do that today?

    I too, am sad with you in your mother’s passing and the turmoil in family relationships that it is bringing to you. It is human to be angry when we see greed and it is human to be greedy. May God’s divine nature fill your heart with comfort you with peace.

    There was another 4th of July, many uears ago ushered in by none other than out Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

    As I reflect about today and our Nation, I am saddened by what has become of our once great Nation. I am sickened by the satan based attitude that has wrestled control of our country away from good God fearing Christian people.

    Read or watch the twisted and misrepresented character assasantion of our founding fathers, that is presented on TV or in book form. Take time to read the total lies that are taught to our children in public schools.

    Our once great nation has been stolen from us and handed over to followers of the anti-christ.

    I am sorry but the fourth has become a day of mourning and prayer for me, more than celebration.

    The signers of the Declaration of Independence, as well as the people who gave up everything they had in order to bring freedom to us all, could never had believed that liberty would be used against us in order to destroy us. But is has.

    Right now your congress is going to pass a law that will make it mandatory for every American to buy their own health insurance. Or be fined for not doing so.


    The worse things get nationaly the more I need the strength and direction and resolve from Jesus Christ. I look to Him for His declaration of independence from sin. And His rescue, from a world that has rejected Him in favor of a false freedom offered from satan and his followers.

    Act 3:21 He must remain in heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.

    I believe as the kingdom of God draws closer to be established on earth, things will only get worse and worse. Christ must remain in heaven until the restoration of all things. Which will happen on the “last day,” when the dead in Christ will be resurrected first, and then, them that remain alive at Christ coming will be transformed in less then a second.

    Jesus will appear from within the clouds of thick darkness like a SUN over the nation of Israel, to make war against the nations that will be coming against the nation of Israel to destroy her…For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Isa 24:5 The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. 6 Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left…19 The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly. 20 The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again. 21 And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones [that are] on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth. 22 And they shall be gathered together, [as] prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited. 23 Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.<<<The thousand year reign of Christ on earth from the nation of Israel, in Jerusalem.

    I love to celebrate Dependence Day.

    Nearly forty years ago, I realized that I needed to depend completely on Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross and His resurrection. I celebrate by continuing to depend on Him by faith each day.

    In total dependence on Him I have found true freedom.

    King Jesus is One that I will never desire independence from!
