The Way Forward

Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD Almighty” (Zech 4:6). The setting of these often-quoted words has to do with the rebuilding of a ruined temple. The details are obscure. But the idea stands on its own.

Like a proverb, the same thought shows up in the lyrics of a song. Psalm 127:1 has reminded every generation since Zechariah that, “Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.

Seems to me that there’s something wonderful about timeless reminders of what it means to learn from the rubble of our own efforts to build a life, home, temple, or community.

    Steve, that early morning time in the woods is almost holy. There is something precious about that time of day, and to hear the woodland creatures as they begin their day.

    Last night God gave me the desire of my heart to allow me to hold my precious father in my arms as he went into our Saviour’s arms. The nurse helped arrange it so I could lay beside of him and hold him as he took his last breath on this earth. He held me when I took my first ones, and I had asked God to allow me to honor my precious Daddy by holding him when he took his last. I’m humbled and thankful for that grace. Blessed in the eyes of the Lord are the death of His saints. Thank you who prayed here.

    Bubbles, my most heartfelt sympathy for your loss. I am so pleased that the hospice nurses allowed you your time with your dad.

    You are never truly alone as the Lord is always with you.

    And you know where we are and how to get here.

    As my parent’s generation began dying I started attending many funerals. I and a couple other fellows here in town were the go to guys for pall bearers.

    The funeral home of choice at the time had the usual Chapple where the deceased was laid out and a foyer where some of the men gathered before the service.

    It was there in that foyer that the deceased was truly remembered. I speak here of mostly men who were to be remembered.

    These men would speak of their childhood’s together, schooldays and the ornery goings on of the deceased. Laughter would fill the room and plenty of smiles.

    Not sad faces, but good memories.

    I am reminded of a proverb that says something like this…A good man is remembered for his good deeds, but a the memory of a bad man stinks.

    I know I butchered the proverb, but I hope you get the point.

    When we build our lives around the teaching and example of Jesus, that’s how we are going to be remembered.

    was thinking today how things began in a garden.

    a place of beginning where things grow and mature.

    bearing fruit in the end.

    then i think of Revelation that ends with a city Who’s Architect and Builder is God.

    Night had fallen in a Privileged Land. The forces of evil were winning.

    how things went south and we were kicked out of the garden into the valley of the shadow of death.

    yet not without incredible grace and mercy and a promise to make all things new.

    to be never left alone/abandoned, yet some times we want to be left alone.

    come Lord Jesus, come quickly.

    That was beautiful Viv! All I can say to it is, Amen and Amen!

    It seems when we think God is far away from us it is not God who has moved away but it is us. We go our own way, in our own strength thinking we can do it alone and that seems to be the very opposite of what God really wants from us. That is where faith steps in, believing in someone we can not see but we know is here right beside us, if we only believe He will help us see. I believe, help my unbelief!

    Pooh, it is inspirational verses by Helen Steiner Rice as I just love her poetry and when I look for sympathy cards I always look for those with her inscription as she writes so beautifully.

    Oh my, what can I say about yesterday? After I had plowed twice, Glenna had a dentist appointment about 15 miles from here. Snowing had stopped and the roads were good.

    However after her appointment she ran into a ditch with her 4 wheel drive Subaru and banged up her car pretty bad.

    I got her a tow truck and a friend went to where she was and brought her home. She is ok, and thankfully wasn’t hurt in the accident.

    After getting her home another friend called and alerted us to the sad fact that her husband in the ICU was dying and the hospital had called to allow the family time to come before he would pass.

    And reading the paper I seen that another friend who had moved away had died as well Monday.

    After getting Glenna taken care of I called the insurance co. and got things moving there.

    I was glad when bedtime at 9pm finally came and that day was over.

    An odd night of weather. Clear and at some point in the night it reached 11 degrees f, was 18 when I got up at 3am and by 7 was 29. I hope the rise in temperatures continues and melts off some of the ice and compacted snow on the street.

    Life certainly provides its struggles, but it is always with hindsight that we see where God was there all the time.

    Continued prayers for Bubbles as these next couple days will be tough.

    Steve you reminded me of when I was a very new believer. I had to go to work and the roads were bad so I asked Jesus to ride in my passenger seat with me. With great confidence I took off and on the first curve I slid into the ditch. I was shocked and mad. I got out and started walking back home and as clear as your voice I heard- “Walk in the Spirit” I replied that I was too angry to walk! I felt that God had let me down like so many others along the way. I tried and tried Him over and over these past 40 years but He’s still with me; carefully watching over me and faithful with love mercy grace and forgiveness. I know He is for others, also.

    With regards to Mart’s subject, I am reminded of much of what we read in Proverbs and Ecclesiastes in that much of what mankind does is in vain.

    Often with a prayer on our lips off we go with our own agenda and desires attempting to conquer life.

    In, I think, every case we start from youth not listening to the advice of older people, thinking we know what we want and how to get there.

    Only after living through our mistakes and tragedies learning what not to do and what to do.

    If we don’t hear God tell us what to do we often think what we think is exactly what he wants us to do. Only to learn after that it may not have been at all.

    When our Rector who has a tremendous recollection of history talks of ours I keep asking him where God comes into it and he says he doesn’t.

    Religious wars are not fought for God but for men’s own desire to be right because what ever side you find yourself on when you have spent your life believing something then it is near impossible to get you to believe the truth even when it is staring you in the face.

    I thank God that He is no respecter of persons:

    What does “God is no respecter of peoples” mean?

The New King James Version translates “God is no respecter of persons” as “God shows no partiality.” Many of Peter’s fellow Jews thought that God loved them more than the gentiles, but Peter came to understand that God did not show favoritism. God wants people of all nations to repent and be saved (2 Peter 3:9

    I have learned biases that are not in keeping with God’s and that is a truth that my dad tried to tell me but you cannot put an old head on young shoulders and I am finding increasingly that the opposite also applies (young head on old shoulders).

    I trust God today because I have learned not to trust anyone else and that includes myself.

    I think of the times I blamed God for my own blindness and this quote from C. S. Lewis resonates:

    C. S. Lewis Quote: “If God had granted all the silly prayers I’ve made in my life, where should I be now?”

    Hindsight is how I have learned and also that is is much easier to live in my own mess than in someone else’s.

    It was said to me once that when I realize what another has went through in their life then I would likely choose my own cross again and I have found that to be true as I see much suffering of others and I find my faith precious in finding peace though lacking understanding of the world and the complexities of it.

    Again I quote Lewis in seeing:

    “Experience: that most brutal of teachers. But you learn, my God do you learn.”

    One of the laws of nature states that there is an equal and opposite reaction to motion which helps explain a great deal in trying to understand the physical world around us.

    When obliquely applied to Scripture it sort of comes out this way…”Unless the Lord builds the house, the builder’s labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guard stands watch in vain.”

    So then The Lord must build and the Lord must watch.

    We tend to apply earthly success to believing God’s will is being applied. However sometimes His will is hidden from us and what He builds and what He watches over is not what we think at all.

    If I were to apply this thinking to the whole of Scripture I might say that God’s plan from the foundation of the world to the death and resurrection of Jesus and on to the end of all things, was built by and watched over by God to assure His success and accomplish His will.

    Beloved, the Holy Spirit has illuminated because I was walking in blindness having believed the history I was taught but it is our Rector whose accurate and unbiased understanding of our history has lighted my path in seeing I should not believe all I hear or read.

    Cultural history is what I learned and believed and I didn’t understand when my dad had not embraced his culture as my friends had alas I was blind but now I see.

    If one actually ever does take the time and patience to read the bible throughout rather than just saying they have they might see that God wanted a relationship with His creation, mankind. He actually created us for that very reason!! He did everything to make that happen except to take away our free will but because of His great love for us He seemed to want us to come to Him of our own free will and not force Himself on anyone. Just as He does not seem to force anyone to walk with Him daily even though that would be the best thing for all mankind. God wants a relationship with you and me, that is the bottom line of every thing He has done from the garden, the resurrection all the way to the new heaven and earth.

    As far as our new President being gentle much like any other 80 year old would be who is also unable to even manage his own care or has to be directed to just get off of the stage because he loses his way but a leader also needs to be aware of his surroundings and strong which he is neither but he is after all surrounded by those who will direct every step his takes.

    Thinking of how difficult a job your President has in uniting a country the size of America when I compare it to the size of this Province and see the disunity in it it makes my mind boggle.

    If there is one truth about people they love to disagree whether it be politics, religion or whatever.

    I think he is to be admired for facing such a task and I am sure he will have many praying and wishing him well on what I am what sure will be a somewhat perilous journey.

    Having watched his inauguration it seemed to me that he was not trying to impress anyone with a great speech but said it how it was and that’s not usually how politicians like to make an impact and that seems a positive to my way of thinking.

    I decided finally to delete my Facebook because of all the negativity and temptations. I started it to keep in touch with my family but that purpose has long been 2nd to all the opinions and advertising. I feel relieved. The only Truth is Jesus and those who bear His name are full of positivity because of that Spirit.

    It’s snowing today and though I do feel sympathy for those having to shovel and plow it reminds me so much of the vastness of Gods love, and how each individual snow flake has a beauty only God could make so quickly and as just individual as we are. Not unlike the sands of the seas. Vast and free!

    The one thing I know without a doubt that someone who has been in politics for 47 years leaves a track record and that record shows that there is a big difference in what one says and whether their actions are true to their words. It shows how much unity he really wants by all the Executive Orders someone wrote for him that show nothing but revenge and bringing more division than there already was before he took office.

    I respect the office of President of the United States and I love God who guides us to pray for all those that are in our government which includes my President Biden. When I say I pray for him I do it, it is not just words but that does not mean I have to agree with the things he is doing to our country and if others are wise they will also not believe everything they are told by politicians, the media and social networks but to do research and think for themselves rather than what they are told to think.

    I could never imagine treating President Biden the way that the left treated Pres Trump when he took office! They called for violence, hatred and called his an illegitimate Presidency since before he even took the oath of office it seems they are now asking people to treat him and all those who worked for him to be blacklisted and that includes those who voted for him, it is truly horrible not to feel safe to even mention that one voted for Trump.

    God want us to focus on Him and not what is wrong in the world as He wants us to know His peace.

    This world just gets more involved and I find if I allow it to distract me it disturbs that peace.

    I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately actually. He does not judge by what he hears or sees- but by righteousness. I’ve been thinking about this because of the sins of Ravi Z. He died from a very fast moving cancer. God is not mocked. He doesn’t allow sin to prevail. Is he in heaven? If justice and mercy go hand in hand I see his death as a blessing to him. Finally free from his sins. I think of my dad being finally set free from his sins. And, like Ravi spared the public/ private humiliation. Death is a real blessing for some.

    Yes it is! I find it so amazing that in the bible God chose not to hide the sin of those who sought after God’s own heart and taught that there is restoration even for those with the most grievous sin. I guess that is why Jesus said, “Those without sin cast the first stone” the principle in that lesson seems to completely miss many.

    It’s good not to encourage human wisdom. I’ve done it and am sorry I did. It’s the devils tool to draw the saints away from Jesus. Persuasive words- not from God. Truth is and comes only from Christ Jesus. Even modern day miracle workers know nothing of Jesus- only what fits their own narrative. They are blind guides. I once was blind, but now I see.

    Last night was the first curfew.

    We were at our younger sons place, who lives very very near an highway, but also close to water, a beautiful house on an holiday campsite, near water. 🌊
    He enjoyed living there, he works in an hospital nearby.
    I had prayed to God about it, for this weekend, laying it before Him, that sleeping there vegas hard for me. We had slept there in October, the windows could be open between 1.30 and 5.30.
    That was on a Thursday. At 5.30 the ground was shaking the noise was like an airplane landing. We closed the window, and it was ok.
    Funny, our son doesn’t mind that noise at all. He just enjoys being near the water, in a lovely campsite.
    So I asked God about it, pleasing our son to visit him, and be around him, ( he has had covid, so no fear of getting contaminated)
    Last night the first curfew started at 21.00.
    And it became quiet.
    I was telling God: You solved my problem in a huge way! LOL
    (I think God doesn’t mind a little humor)

    Anyway, the sun was shining during the day, and I enjoyed strolling along the water, the sun reflecting in many ways, the beautiful sky, it is so blue this year.
    God’s beautiful creation to be enjoyed.

    Anyway, just a little talk from me, for those who have time to read.

    There have been riots, but it is only a few hundred in the whole country, mainly youths. I think they are getting bored with all activities and school on hold.
    Within an hour the next curfew starts.
    Quiet.
    God wants to calm down humanity.
    Thinking of the Isaiah 11:1-10
    God wants to speak to the heart, and that is the sharp sword of the Spirit. Just as God cut to our hearts and we repented band accepted Christ as our Savior, He wants to call all.

    been thinking about these motifs. the body being mortified by the Spirit. thinking a body within a body. a body, ground, must be barren to bear fruit. the ground receiving the Word, seed/truth, and watered by the Spirit. new creation grows and matures. we can claim no glory from this growth or fruit. it belongs to God.

    the body is not evil in of it’s material self, like inanimate objects. the spirit within the body is another story. Jesus said if you being evil know how to give good gifts to your children…..

    thinking we are cleansed by the blood of The Lamb, sin transferred to Christ, who died in our place. yet He lives, but where? did we not receive Christ? do we continue to be enslaved to sin or to Him Who freed us? do we work or serve? if we are working what are we working for? if we serve what do we give?

    thinking the biggest hindrance to the Good News is self/pride and in persuading others. thinking genuine love and simplicity could explain the good news, even to a child. leave the cookie jar on the bottom shelf. we tend to fall from high places.

    besides the Lord is harvesting where He have not sown and gathering where He have not scattered seed. seems to me some one else was serving too. the hands and feet of Christ.

    23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.
    24 Now I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church. 25 I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness— Colossians 1:23-25 the fullness of Christ.

    I was taught that the Revelation was prophecy about future events. That the people it was shared with at the time would have understood what was meant by various images, ie sword, horse blood angels etc. I just read about a warning that words should not be added to scripture and if one adds words and meaning to create their own prophetic word God is not pleased with the false prophet and consequences will follow.( I know there are differences in the interpretation regarding believers and going through the great Tribulation or not.) However I think it’s best to take it at face value. I don’t think God meant His word to be so mysterious with symbolism.

    It is, as you say, the symbolism, God touches our hearts, that is not about prophecy, but about how God works:
    “When the people heard this, ( the speech of Peter on Pentecost) they were cut to the heart”
    Acts 2:37

    As He did that to Paul, Saul, too, Acts 9:3-7
    It was a flashing light and a Voice thundering
    That is what is the breath of His lips.

    Or as Hebrews 4:12 describes it:
    The Word of God is sharper than any double edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow, it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

    All of us have been stricken with that sword of the Spirit, and we died, with Christ on the Cross, and raised again with Him to a new Life.

    Again Today, we live in Jesus, and Jesus lives in us.

    John 21:15-22
    Three times Jesus asked,

    But the probing questions of Jesus urged Peter to look deeper in his heart, and the deeper be looked, he knew how much he did love Jesus.
    The penetrating questions of Jesus made Peter realise how much he loved Him.

    So when Hebrews writes about the Word of God judging the heart, it is a loving thing,.a beautiful thing.

    “Do I love Jesus”
    Pooh asked that question last week. It is good to go about our day, with doing my chores, meeting people, serving them.
    As if I serve Jesus.

    It is getting into a hype.
    And carrying a knife is a new habit among teenagers, well, new, it has been going on for several years, but this was unheard of twenty years ago.
    And they start using the knifes too in these riots.
    (It looks like the hippy time, and the provo times of the sixties.)
    A hundred youngsters in a city can do lots of damage. But the people overall do not agree with them. But how to stop them?

    Riotous unlawful behavior is what causes people to demand a government that stops it. Unfortunately that is how fascism gets its beginning.

    It is with a sad and heavy heart that in my country our new president talks about unity while everything he has done so far continues to divide.

    But look out little Israel there will be no real peace for you. Only a false one.

    People around the world have seen that lock downs do not work for stopping this virus but do put more power into the hands of the ruling authorities. Does the virus stop spreading after 9pm until 4am? It knows no time limit but the amount of people suffering from depression, suicide, alcoholism and drug addiction has risen, people unable to work and pay their bills is a higher risk than getting the virus or what happens to students who are not allowed to go to school or to go to church to worship has much higher cost than the risk of the virus it’s self.

    The deaths from cancer and heart problems are higher than the deaths from the virus but the government can not protect people from any of them and seem to be more politically motivated on most occasions than for the well fair of the people.

    Doing the works of God- what are they? What did Jesus do? How did God advise Kings? Therein lies the answer. Listen to the prophets they tell us what God wants. Being like a Good Samaritan amongst kings and queens to the poor and broken hearted.

    Forever yesterday I got a new book on evangelism and was struck by a comment that was made. The advice was to start praying for each child they see- in this case a school yard- because perhaps no one has ever prayed for them before! Ever! Think of it. When I met Jesus for the first time I wondered for years just exactly who had prayed for me! What a privilege to pray for the youths! One never knows who’s life will be changed from despair to glorious hope. I know mine was- praise Father Son and Holy Spirit!

    [To have Faith in Christ] means, of course, trying to do all that He says. There would be no sense in saying you trusted a person if you would not take his advice. Thus if you have really handed yourself over to Him, it must follow that you are trying to obey Him. But trying in a new way, a less worried way. Not doing these things in order to be saved, but because He has begun to save you already.     One of those things I wish I didn’t automatically do sometimes is see multiple sides of things. Not always sure if it is a flaw or an asset.

    Clearly God wants us to pray for others, however is it for the necessity of the prayer to be accomplished or just so *our* heart is in the right place?

    Certainly God knows the need of the person we are praying for. Is it that He is withholding an answer to that persons need until that person is prayed for?

    I think not.

    It is written that His eye is on the sparrow. Does the sparrow have to have someone pray for it or does God know its needs and care for it anyway?

    When we pray for what we think are lost people, is their salvation in part awaiting our intervention? Or is their salvation already worked out?

    When we pray for another do we become one with that person in Spirit?

    In essence do we stand in for that person? As an advocate, as Jesus does for us all.

    Ice this morning. No plowing, but the salting of walkways a necessity.

    I remember when I was newly touched, 25 years ago, I thought it outrageous that God would “need” us, to save others.
    “How dare we be so presumptuous, so full of pride?”
    That was my thought.

    But in the walk with Jesus, He slowly showed me some things.
    Let me give how I think about praying for others, at this moment

    The prayer was already waiting, the answer to that prayer is also already there with God.

    It is waiting till one of His children is calling it. Dragging it down from heaven so to speak.
    If one does not do it, God puts it in front of one of His other children.

    How do I know…
    I guess, this is the meaning of the Mystery;
    Christ and the Church.
    Eph 5:23,32
    Christ has chosen to be connected to the Body of believers.
    He did not want to do it on His own, but He wanted us to be involved.

    Steve, I find it is in helplessness I pray for others as I do for myself, and, yes, it gives my heart contentment to leave it in His hands.

    How often I have been thankful for others peoples prayers when I was not in a good place to pray myself.

    I believe that when I pay for my children who have fallen away from the faith then I am mediating between them and God.

    The same could be said for when I pray as part of a congregation I hope God sees our prayers as heartfelt and sincere.

    I do what I think is right and know the rest lies with God.

    No man is an island I think says that each of us depends on each other at different stages in life for encouragement, support physical or mental, empathy and prayer.

    I can only say that when I had doubts or misgivings I depended greatly on the faith of others to sustain me and so find comfort in unity whenever I find it.

    Steve, while I understand your tendency to see multiple sides as I have the same inclination I find that it is not usually the case with others to do likewise and perhaps why like yourself I find it much more of a hindrance than an asset but we are who we are and there are upsides and downsides to everything I have found.

    thinking without faith it is impossible to please God. yet when we pray for others, indirectly we our praying for ourselves because we have done the same thing. what changed that we would pray for others?

    The message of going to a school and praying for the children!
    That rang in my heart.
    Yesterday I went cycling to the town, to go to some shop, and as I was cycling started to pray for people that I came across.
    But that became a bit burdensome, so I started to praise God instead, and I asked Him, “You show me for who to pray, and in the mean time I will praise You”

    I was on my way back, and before crossing the railway, the fence went down, and I had to stop. Blockage!
    When I am in a hurry, that is annoying. But when I keep my eyes on Jesus, I may see that He is telling me something.
    And indeed, on the other side was a young mother, with here head covered, it must be a Muslim, with two young children.
    And as I had to wait there, it became clear: this is the one to pray for! The woman with the children!
    Thank God for His goodness!
    And in heaven I will see what He has done for her and her children. Maybe sooner, who knows?!

    About the riots, many many christians have come together (digital) to pray, for 3 evenings now.
    This has been a great encouragement to christians, bringing unity.
    And things have eased. Civilians came out to protect the inner cities, even farmers with their big vehicles wanted to help, to block the way.
    Money has been collected by crowdfunding, to help shops that were plundered.

    So some good news too!
    May God be with these young rioters, may He put a sign on them, to touch there hearts, when their time is right!

    God is a relationship builder; “Love God and love others”.

    Thinking of the hatred many still have in our Province i.e. I recall an English woman telling me of her work for SSAFA and she had broken down in a town known to be republican (supporters of IRA) and a man started to help her but has she spoke and he realised she had an English voice he left her stranded. While this was many years ago there are many who still hold with this view in their hatred of the English.

    Our family at a wedding in England and when we left the pub we had lunch in the men found their jackets had been cut with scissors when they had heard our Irish accents.

    I look at the world around me and ask where is the ‘FOREGIVENESS’ as division is rife and I think of the various religions and denominations and wonder if we are so forgiving how have we become so alien to each other.

    I am reminded today why God is no respector of persons as it speaks of God knowing exactly what is in people’s hearts and not deceived by what is on their tongues.

    As C. S. Lewis says it is easy to tell another they need to forgive until you are the one who has to forgive.

    Pooh, you speak of love for your enemies and yet how critical a spirit when speaking of your President and his followers.

    You also put down Steve and Forever and go on your way without a second thought for their feelings and I am left cold from the onslaught.

    You speak love but seem to have little understanding of what it is!

    Personally I leave politics to those best qualified to do the job and get on with what God has placed in my care which is much less demanding than trying to run a country.

    Seems to me you missed your vocation as I would have thought if you enjoy an eventful life there is no better career for disagreements than politics.

    Politics and religion are what causes hatred and violence here so forgive me if I don’t share your enthusiasm for them.

    A church in Ontario was honouring one of its senior pastors who had been retired for many years. They asked if he would say a few words. He was 92 at that time and I wondered why the church even bothered to ask the old gentleman to preach at that age.

    After a warm welcome and introduction, and as the applause quieted down, he rose from his high back chair and walked slowly, with great effort and a sliding gait to the podium.

    Without a note or written paper of any kind he placed both hands on the pulpit to steady himself and then quietly and slowly he began to speak….

    Forever, I think it is because I have come up against people in my own life who twist the truth for their own ends and it winds me up, but, the one thing my dad taught me that to my shame I only now realize the significance of is that God does not want to hear excuses for He has heard them all before.

    It is C. S. Lewis who says I excuse myself too easily and others not easily enough and I am finding that much of what Lewis says had credence to it.

    God doesn’t ask for my approval but for me to submit to His will and my dad knew that whereas I with the chip on my shoulder questions God’s authority and God being the loving Father He is ignores my ignorance and rebellion until I have learned some more lessons on obedience and humility which is what He wants from me and it is in my better moments I see this truth.

    Thank you for your blessing, Forever, I find that I am a slow learner and that I think is down to me being easily distracted as is my tendency to wandering thoughts and I find can be tiring on the mind as weariness is my companion these days.

    25 years ago, the Holy Spirit would comfort me, immediately. Nowadays, I get another message from the Holy Spirit: bring it to Me.
    And even more stern: Kill the negative thoughts about another’s misgivings immediately!
    And fill it with blessings for that person!

    And I find that the Path God is leading us on, the Path forward.
    That is what the Beatitudes show us, the first blessed state is that we are comforted, when we mourn.
    The last blessed state is that we rejoice when we are set against, and that can also be on a Christian blog.

    Forever I am truly sorry I have caused you frustration and angst on this blog. What irritates me most is when scripture is used to support ones own agenda. I suppose cult leaders do the same and lead people away from Jesus to things like politics and fear of the “world”. I hate seeing people suffer under tyrants! So good at making scripture which is sacred Holy and breathed on by God Himself into mere words on paper. Ugh. Paperback tyrants.

    I must remember that God is aware and has seen it all! Yet He’s overcome the world flesh and the devil by dying on a cross lifted above the earth pointing toward heaven! Look up!! Remember He is also within us. Our hope of glory!

    Thinking of how hard I find it to get rid of negative thoughts and it was through my son that God showed me this truth.

    In a conversation on our Province and the likeliness of it uniting with the Republic of Ireland to bring about an all Ireland my son was aghast at my thinking.

    Having lived through the troubles and with close liaisons to the Security Forces I have some very dark memories of them and I had no idea of how these memories lingering in my sub conscious would effect my present day thinking until my discussion with my son which revealed to me that is thinking was much more objective in seeing the reality of the situation.

    My view is dark and unobjective while is his clear and objective.

    When I cannot trust in my own understanding then it seems I have come full circle in seeing what God has been trying to show me all along.

Politics has nothing to do with this spiritual blog and only causes problems, which is why Mart would not want them here. There are other forums focusing on politics. I suggest Pooh stick to her passion amongst other worldly thinkers as I know she said she spends much time writing to politicians giving them her opinion of how she thinks the world should be run. A divided mind cannot serve Christ.

    I can’t handle her at all anymore. Perhaps I’ve taken on more than I need to take on. Probably as there’s so much to deal with these days. So many decisions to make. I’m overwhelmed.

    I really do appreciate it that. I was only the feeling of being hurt, not angst or anything. That was about keeping a distance from abusive people, (a safe distance)
    Nobody ever excused me for being licentious. LOL, I would not be hurt about that either, because that was not my error. Ottawa indeed legalism.
    I am now talking about the Gospel of Grace, and loving Jesus, if we follow His Teachings, it cannot be out of a legalistic mind. We can only follow, because of Jesus giving us power tondo so.
    Jesus does ask the impossible, ( humanly speaking) but yet everything is possible because Jesus in us is doing it.

    Stopping negative thoughts, does Jesus do that for us? He told me to do so, and I found out that when I don’t, them I suffer the consequences,.
    As you say, Jeff, when I dwell too long on the negatives they take over, and the way back to Jesus is long and hard.
    So I do think that there is some “aggression” needed, in throwing out the negative thoughts vat once
    And… Starting to praise Jesus instead.

    Anyway, it is still a struggle for me, that Jesus tells us to obey Him. I know that my perception of that word is tainted.
    So I pray over it. Obeying in the sacred meaning of the word, is the bond between true lovers.
    True lover “obey” what the others will is. Not out of slavishness, but as an heir. A child.
    The great example: Jesus was always obeying what the Father’s will is.
    His will was the Father’s will.

    Our will being cleansed and sanctified!

    And then we will DO what Jesus asks of us.
    Out of love for Him.

    I must say thank you to you all for the kindness, mercy and grace you have shown me. I am truly blessed by it. It always comes back to who one is in Christ and following after Him, not whether anyone else is but whether or not I am.

    It is like looking through a wooden fence when there is a tiny knot hole in it, one sees only a small area when there is a vast expanse not seen. So one comes to conclusions they see through that tiny knot hole and often forget there is so much more they can not see. Often that is how one looks at life as well a tiny piece of the puzzle while neglecting there may be more to finish the picture but do not care about that because they are satisfied with that tiny piece as long as others come alongside to encourage them to look no further. However I would like to encourage you to look into things further and be amazed, just do not follow behind others and take their perceptions as your own.

    FYI Beloved, I do not like being ignorant about what goes on in the world around me. When, especially, Christian’s who are ignorant let things happen like allowing the government to take prayer out of schools, allowing children to be taken as sex slaves, people going hungry or without shelter and funding abortions to just name a few but I like to take a stand for those who can not stand up for themselves. God planned in advance the good works for us to do. Eph 2:10

    So rather than tear up our brothers and sisters in Christ we have to be aware of the world around us so we can be the hands and feet of our Lord and “Do something” that really matters. But sadly as someone mentioned earlier they have no idea what is meant by good works.

    Thank you so much for the kind words and prayers. Yes I’m overwhelmed with the move- health insurance changes (what a nightmare) because of covid phone waits are awful and online is so confusing. Still learning the roads in town- some are one-way so trying to figure out how to get to places I need like doctor, eye clinic, license bureau etc. maps on the phone are a great help though but as I still have to look at the dash to find out if I’m in drive or reverse each time (first to find the gauge) oh my 70 feels so old lately. I’m tired but still moving. On top of all the change I used a defogger on my glasses because the mask makes them fog up and it ruined my glasses so have to get new ones. I guess many have had this problem😞 Then, I accidentally kicked my cat in the chin and she doesn’t like me very much today. Ugh

    I need to meditate on these words day and night as how easy negative thoughts enter my mind and I am once again captive.

    Also what can be right for one person is not necessarily right for another.

    My thinking being how Pooh has enthusiasm for politics while for me they are a reminder of the dark days of our Province.

    Also I complicate my own walk with God when I get distracted by events that have affected my thought process.

    It was in comparing my thoughts to my sons that I realised why God wants me to submit to His will and not lean on my own understanding i.e. my understanding has been affected by my thoughts and beliefs that are not in keeping with moving forward in time but are captive to past times that still haunt my mind as is my tendency to dwell on them.

    As for works I’ve been thinking about this and scripture points to personal and up close interactions but nothing on a national level. Early Christians picked up abandoned babies from garbage dumps opened the first hospitals and universities etc. not one ever appealed to the government not even Jesus. Caesar was not befriended or tried to be persuaded to help others. I think if we were to be involved this way it would say something. Jesus said you cannot serve two masters. A house divided will not stand. Christians then and now are killed for their faith in Christ- not their political affiliation. Dying to self involves living to Christ. Not His ideas but to Christ Himself.

To me it is all a bunch of corruption and lies but I did not know that until I watched and listened to them. I actually believed at some point that they had the good of the people in mind until I learned it was the big money who has them in their pocket but because of the ignorance of the people they vote to keep them in office that is why I refer to those in DC as the DC mafia.

    Although I did not appreciate Pres Trump’s personality and the things he said turned my stomach but the things he did for the people was amazing. He promised to reveal the corruption and lies in DC that is why they fought with every weapon they had since even before he took office to get rid of him and are still trying even when he is not in office any more. He stood up for the unborn, to stop all the job killing regulations that DC had imposed on businesses, and even during the time of the virus he worked with private companies and citizens along with using federal dollars to promote PPE, etc. to be made in the USA and not to depend on China for all our medical supplies which our country has for decades. He addressed how much the previous administrations had depleted our military of not even having enough supplies to do their jobs. He stood for the people not special interest groups, big tech or lobbyists who have bought and paid for the work of what most politicians do on their behalf not for the people.

    Oh also by the way it is not me who brings up political banter on here, remember I am the one who would rather stay on topic then going off in different directions, so essentially I was just following the crowd trying to be part of the group in discussing politics. If I remember right Viv aren’t you one of those who have talked, since you have been on here, about the political climate or politics of your country?

    Good morning Foreverblessed and all. It is a cold 01 degree f this morning under a clear sky with a full moon setting in the west.

    We have had a pretty difficult week, and am hoping that things improve as we go forward.

    It often seems as if God tests us when difficulties or even difficult people enter our lives. I find that I fail more often than not.

    Always needing the grace of God to cover my failures. However knowing God forgives me still I feel bad when I fail.

    When it comes to other people dragging you into their dark and negative world it is to be remembered that it is not your failure for recognizing their darkness, but rather the Holy Spirit in you giving you the ability to see.

    Once you recognize things for what they are it then becomes your responsibility as how to react.

    Prayer is always the first step, for your strength and the offending party to be forgiven. Sometimes the offending party actually turns out to be us and when that is the case the same applies…Strength and forgiveness.

    Another lesson learned is this. If I know that I am in danger of temptation visiting a certain situation or even a certain person, better to avoid both then to place myself in such a position. Better to be safe and stay away from dangerous trappings.

    None of us can change another, only they can do it when God becomes the center of their being. The same applies for me as well.

    However when life’s difficulties come upon us we are left to dealing with them as they cannot sometimes be avoided

    Praying for strength, for guidance and almost always for rescue.

    Forever, you are so wise and I recall a time when I was having grievance from a work college and my friend said to me you are not sleeping, you are upset and unable to focus on your work or enjoy others friendship while she is going about her day unperturbed.

    I looked across and seen my work college laughing and as my friend had said uncaring about the distress she had caused by her unkind words.

    I was not looking to Christ in those days though I took my friends advice and in time I forgive my work college and we went on to work in harmony together.

    Believe me it is much easier to forgive and forget when I am looking to Christ and though I have negative thoughts having come through the devastation in our Province they are of sadness for the past and not of bitterness or resentment towards others.

    I am beginning to understand the meaning of:

    Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Back almost 22 years ago while Matt lay in intensive care, his mother, some of our family, our Pastor and his wife and I there living in the hallway of the ICU at the University Hospital all praying for Matt to survive and recover, another Pastor from a different church came into our Post Office and spoke with our friend the Postmaster about Matt.

    Our friend ask the Pastor to pray for Matt. My friend was shocked and dismayed at her (the Pastor’s) reply. She said that she couldn’t because she didn’t know God’s will on the matter.

    I have thought about that for all these years. That anyone especially someone who is supposed to be called by God to preach admitted she didn’t know how to pray because she did not know God’s will.

    While it seems almost without doubt God’s will would be the same as all of the hundreds of people who were praying for my son Matt to recover. It also comes to mind the same as Jesus ask of God if there were another way other than crucifixion for what lay ahead for Jesus. “But not my will, but Your will be done.”

    Here right in front of me as I write these words hung on the wall are the words of Philippians 4:4-7 KJV “let your requests be made known unto God.”

    So I pray for my requests even as what I see or live seems the opposite of my requests, I keep hoping and praying.

    Hoping that my requests are the same as God’s will, but also realizing that God’s will is far above mine and there may be a reason behind unanswered prayer.

    Indeed our nation is under the influence of evil as I think most of the world is as well. I also think that God has an ultimate plan for the nations of this world to come to the place where every knee shall bend in recognizing Jesus as Lord of Lord’s and King of King’s at a heavy price.

    And so I too pray for my requests all the while accepting God’s will with an amount of sadness and pain.

So things get passed around according the person who hears it and it may not be what is actually said. Even when people hear face to face they can misunderstand or misinterpret what is said because of preconceived notions and biases. Just like on here!

    I think of my youth and how I listened to my friends who would often use scripture to justify our hatred of our enemies but of course we were full of our cultural teaching and a bit like the Pharisees who couldn’t see past our nose.

    My dad who put God before his culture did not share in our behaviours or our beliefs but as a youth rebelling against anything and everything I was full of my self and didn’t listen to anyone older or wiser.

    My dad never used scripture to justify his own ends as he was taught it was for his own learning and rebuke and so seen the folly of our ways.

    As for me I learned the hard way not to listen to others or lean on my own understanding as I so often did in my youth.

    Today, I hate to see others being led astray by either their cultural beliefs or by others who have interpreted scriptures for their own ends.

    I can only say having learned from my own foolishness that hell can be of my own making as I speak of someone who should if I had listened to the guidance of my earthly dad known better.

    I see these quotes from Lewis and and can only say by God does this man know what he is talking about.

    My own efforts! That holds a very big lesson in life, home, temple or community and I would add relationships within that community about pride. Thinking I can do better than God at working in those areas to make them better. I need the Lord because I know in my own strength rubble is the result even if it looks nice to begin with it will fall under pressure.

    I am reminded often that I am a work in process and that helps to remind me that everyone and everything else is also a work in process to be finished and completed when the Lord returns.

    Have you ever walked by a building while it is being made. It looks to the untrained eye to be a mess. I can not even tell what are really rooms because it is just the wooden planks standing on other wooden planks to form just hollow frames of what is to be. The builder knows what it is and can even envision the finished results but to the lay person it looks like a hot mess that no one would like to work in or live in but when it is done it is a masterpiece and useful for the purpose the builder had intended.

    I think that way about how God works in lives, homes, temples and communities. He is the master builder and when I put myself in His hands and submit to Him the workmanship will stand no matter what storms or troubles may come He has built a firm foundation.

    When you mention lack of political talk I thought of Bonhoeffer the German pastor/seminary president who just before he died in prison for being a Christian was alleged to be involved in plotting an assassination attempt on Hitler. Just before he died. That always makes me wonder if God spared him or if he overstepped his bounds by plotting the death of a horrible dictator. Just wondering. I think of David and his running from Sail with ample opportunity to kill him but didn’t. Then I recall in 2Samuel4 how Sauls killer was himself slain because of what he had done- and by David!

    Yes, I have wondered about that too, about Bonoeffer overstapping his limits…
    Bonhoeffer said, he wanted to do this, to show the world that not all Germans stood behind the nazis. That was his motivation.

    500 years ago we had the Reformation, in our country, and the fight for the freedom of religion.
    There must have been discord among christians. the one part who would take up arms, and the other part who didn’t want to do that.
    But we had the cruel war, the 80 years of war. Of which I was always proud: We freed ourselves from the Spanish Oppressors.

    But I am rethinking my point of view. As we did free ourselves from the Spanish, and the Catholic Church, but…. the result was not religious freedom for all, but only for the State defined church.

    And the State defined church was Calvinistic, as Calvin allowed his followers to take up arms, Luther was mainly opposed to taking up arms.

    The result of our taking up arms, did not bring peace for everybody.

    What if we just humble ourselves before God, and pray, together in one unity in Christ.

    This morning we had a meditation of our pastor via internet
    He was telling that when he saw the riots in our country, the past week,
    he prayed over it, and in his mind came this text:

    Explaining what the bible verse of John 12:32 means.

    Just as Moses lifted up the snake on the pole, and everyone who looked up to the snake was miraculously healed of the poison.
    That is how everyone who looks up to the Cross in faith, will be redeemed.
    John himself explains the bible verse in the next one:
    He said this to show the kind of death He was going to die.

    Namely, bring lifted on a cross. High above the ground, crucified.

    Redemption.
    We need to be redeemed.
    Telling people the 10 commandments does not help them. The commands do not help us. They only show us when we go wrong.
    And I know what it is to be taught the commandments over the Cross.

    Through the Cross we can become whole.

    That is why I think it is hard to be a christian nation. You cannot force anyone to accept Jesus, it is a free choice.

    How can you build a nation on the foundation of Jesus, and Him crucified?

    I saw a cross, from the bottom, and I had to look up, high.

    And that I could rest in faith in Him. And through that Rest, Jesus could work in me.

    Thank you Street, Joyce and Foreverblessed and others who may not have posted for you thoughts, concerns and prayers. Yesterday was indeed a snow event. Not as bad as some others I have dealt with and I am very thankful for that, but still a lot of work.

    We got a foot (12 inches) of snow throughout the day. Sometimes coming down a couple inches an hour. I and my town team plowed 5 times keeping up with the storm so that it would not get too deep to make plowing more difficult.

    I have plowed again already this morning and it looks as if we might get some more today, but not like yesterday.

    Thank you all again for your concerns and prayers, they always help.

    The year you may be thinking of is when we got 24 feet of snow over the winter. We even broke a state record that year for the most snow in February.

    The cross… never an end to our contemplation. A very good place to sit and marvel. My cat is back to normal. I feel sorry for her sometimes when she walks around calling for other cats. I can see she needs feline fellowship but I am only allowed one animal. I might take her out on a leash to play with some apt dogs she watches out the window. She really enjoys watching them on Animal Planet! Lonely cat lonely me sometimes lonely Jesus on the cross. Our loneliness should always lead us to the cross. Where we find our rest. Amen

    Beloved, my neighbour has a cat that never has been outside and she tells me of how it loves to sit on the window and look out at other cats in our park.

    I feed it when she goes away and because it doesn’t see me that often it’s very wary of coming close to me so I just put the food on the plate and drink and leave it to enjoy.

    I love cats but as a child I remember my dad bringing home a smoky grey half Persian and I loved that cat but we lived so near the road that we had her no time till she got killed.

    I am sometime wanting to get another Persian may be a white one this time but I know they are rather expensive but I would love one.

    Glad to hear yours’s is better and I have went for walks in the park and seen cats on a lead which amused me but it sounds like a good idea to get it out and about.

    We had a fire alarm test when I first moved and not knowing it was a test nearly had a heart attack wondering how I was going to get myself and my cat down 4 flights of stairs as the elevators won’t work in case of fire! Fortunately the manager phoned me to let me know it was a monthly test just in time! Needless to say I got on Amazon and ordered an over the shoulder pet carrier in case of a real event! Her kennel is too heavy to carry for long.

    Who in the OT times would have known that Psalm 34:20 was a prophecy about Jesus?

    The more I read the Psalms the more I see that many of them must be about Jesus, the human side of Him, when He was on earth.

    Beloved mentioned about her lonely cat, lonely me and!!! lonely Jesus on the Cross.
    How wonderful that you turned your eyes immediately on Jesus. He suffered more than any of our personal suffering.

    So lonely!
    Bulls of Bashan attacked Him, all evils in the spirit world came to strike Him,
    Psalm 22:12-13
    And God had left Him alone.
    That silence no one knows, the deepness of loneliness as Jesus did.

    And He did it for us, He Himself was only lovely, and good, and pure, yet He took on the sins of the world, willingly.

    It was the faith of Jesus that did not leave Him at that lonely moment on the Cross, and the love for the Father, His acceptance of the plan of Redeeming us.

    The Lord redeems His servants, no-one who takes refuge in Him will be condemned.

    It seems some people like to pull verse 7 out of this teaching thinking that whatever they ask it will be done but and there is a but to it, one has to remain in Christ. His thoughts become our thoughts, His will becomes our will, His words will become our words then we ask according to a life that is first and foremost abiding in Christ. Will the things we ask for be different when we are remaining in Christ than if we are not close to Him?

    I must tell you that when you talk about “others”, which is pretty often here, I recall a Pharisee pounding his chest saying thank God I am not like those heathens. That’s how you sound to me, anyway. And yes I am not guilt free but have been convicted by the Holy Spirit in the past. Until and unless you repent you cannot and will not receive Gods Holy Spirit. Because God is full of love and mercy and not willing that any be lost. This is the God of the Holy Bible you read but have not yet surrendered to. Your fight with God will end one day.     I will talk about somebody, I met, and who accused me of taking over his position. He accused me that I wanted to rule over him.
    And I did not understand the accusation.
    As the matter of fact is, that he himself was a very authoritarian person, one who did not take advice, who did on his own decide what to do, and not have a meeting to discuss it together.

    I had to lay my feelings on the altar of Jesus, many and many times. But I did not leave them there, I took them on my back again, and worried about it, not only worry, but also rather stronger emotions too.

    But… later I dound out, that he as a child was dealt with very harshly, with corporal punishment, for minor wrongs too. And then he vowed to himself;
    “Nobody will tell me what to do any longer” and
    “Nobody will hurt me any longer”

    So if anyone asked him to discuss things how to organise church teenage outreach, he would see that as an assault to his authority.
    And that is the reason of his accusations.

    Now I understand.

    And I know how to pray, only God can deliver him, in Jesus’Name.

    But I have been at freedom conferences of christian organisations,
    Christian, set yourself free!

    Disavow oaths that you have made, when you were without Jesus, and in dismay.
    In Jesus’Name, break the bonds that you had.
    And say that now Jesus is your Lord and Master, and no one else is.
    Not even yourself.

    If we trust Jesus that much, the One Who laid His life so that we can be freed.

    We, we are in this together!
    One Body in Christ, He is the Head, we His Body.

    So how could I love that person who accused me of all sorts of things?
    By realising that he needs deliverance. Look with eyes of compassion, but even that you could not show as he found that belittling.
    And praying that Jesus would free him. And in the mean time, (Beloved) I kept my safe distance.

    Sometimes it is better to wait in the Lord,
    wait till the time has come for deliverance.

    Good morning Steve and thanks for the blessing! The thing about the weather in most of the US is that it will change- I’m so thankful for that aspect of life. Yes as you say there’s always something to be thankful to God for throughout the day. Honestly as I’ve said before without Him in my life I would not want to live a minute longer. Years of accumulating struggles and strife wear me down. But I can take everything and anything to God in prayer and He hears.

    I did start going to a small baptist church yesterday- small as in only 5 of us there with the young pastors family but chose it because we are both Reformed leaning and they were studying a book I’d just received called Gentle and Lowly by Dane Ortland – The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers. It was also good to share my prayer needs and they even asked if I needed help getting groceries or with transportation! So I feel connected to the Body again and though I hate the masks and social distancing it reminds me of the hope we have when we see Jesus face to face! No masks nothing in between! Oh glorious Day that will be!

    And no more below zero temps OR excessive snows to deal with! May you and yours be blessed beyond measure today and always,

    It was while watching a programme where the detective in it is known to be highly intelligent I realised I can not feel another’s pain.

    He the detective’s comment to his Sergeant was:

    “Its the human tragedy that I can not feel another man’s pain”.

    There are people that only God can touch and I recall my dad’s response when I questioned him giving an alcoholic who used to stand outside our church knowing my dad would give him money in saying he is way past human help and is in God’s hands now.

    That young man died from his alcoholism as he was too broken for this world and beyond any comforts another human being could offer him.

    I had family and friends who were alcoholics and some beat it and some did not and it caused much pain and devastation to their families who did everything they could to get their loved ones free of it and that included prayer so why is it that some beat it while others fall prey.

    Why are some prayers answered with a ‘yes’ and others with a ‘no’.

    So many questions go unanswered and yet God asks us to “Trust Him”.

    Does God do fair from my perspective?

    The Lord encouraged Moses to find people who had these characteristics to help him lead the people and as we move forward we should also look for them as well. Capable, honest, God fearing and those who will not take bribes. Wow what a better government we would have if we had only followed that criteria when we chose our leaders. That would be good for building on the rubble that we had caused by doing things our way and not God’s.

    Here, this week I heard the black bird singing, for the first time, after winter! I love his singing. Our blackbirds are different from yours.
    But it is very early in the year.

    Winter has not been here yet. A bit of night frost, and one day of snow, that’s all.

    It may still come.
    Yesterday was a sunny day, the sun felt even warm.
    So I went out with my scetsbook into the woods, to draw.
    There was a lady who had asked me to visit her, as it is so quiet in this lockdown. Going out with her felt more safe. She really enjoyed it. The sun shining on us, making us warm. But her hands became cold. And do we went inside.

    There are many people who asked me these times to come and visit. But my mother is the first one to attend to.

    Just some thoughts on my business.
    Sitting still with Jesus and laying all these questions before Him.

    If the Lord does not build the house, I want to have Him deal with this.
    Prayer, before visiting.
    Intercessory prayer.

    Being in His Rest, Jesus IS the Sabbath rest, then we rest from our own works. Hebrews 4:10.
    If we are in Him we are IN the Sabbath rest, and never out of it.
    (Besides when my old self decides to take over, and then I have to struggle to come in His Calmness again)

    When Israel crossed over the Jordan into the Promised Land the Lord told them to build an alter to commemorate the event. Simply a pile of stones as nothing man could build could never match up to God.

    That’s how I remember it.

    I remember being told years ago that whenever God met Israel they built an altar- of stones- at that place to remind and commemorate how God met them in their need. Or something like that. I was encouraged to do something similar in my walk with God. I still occasionally buy something as a reminder. I actually recently purchased a painting of a dove getting ready to land in black and white. A reminder of the Holy Spirit’s presence in my heart. And in the world.

    Today was the day designated to get a pacemaker put in but I made a choice not to go to such extreme measures without trying some alternatives first that does not require a life altering surgery. So I am taking a breathe of relief.

    I would have lost the use of my left arm for 6 weeks and without full use of my legs I use my arms to compensate. My hair is so long I would not have even been able to shampoo it or put my walker in and out of my car. Diet change, exercise and plenty of fluids to help with my aFib and I will try those things first.

    Yes I can see where you’d rather abandon that surgery being alone. I too decided against a major surgery a few years ago not having anyone to care for me afterward. Diet exercise and more fluids would help me also but I’m not that great about doing what I should do🤣

    Beloved, neither am I, have a sweet tooth, from always loving cakes and biscuits and though I am trying I find it hard to resist when faced with temptation. Its more about weight with me though bordering diabetic and family always on my case so have to make the effort.🤷‍♀️

    I’m kind of glad I don’t have anyone on my case but maybe sometimes a reminder? It probably wouldn’t help anyway. I just stepped over the pre to diabetic but that doesn’t seem to scare me enough to do the right thing always. Just can’t seem to give up the comfort foods- mostly white things. But I try to “add” some real, colored foods every day- should be the other way around though I guess.

    I learned something about myself the other day. When I am having a panic attack which have been almost daily lately I want sugar- so bad. I tried eating good food but my stomach is too upset. So why can I eat sugary stuff and it’s ok? Light came on!! It’s purely EMOTIONAL not physical causing panics!! So now going for a nice glass of ice water and sitting quietly without tv or internet. Jesus just smiles at me. He always makes a way forward. He’s so good😊

    That’s why we went to my mom yesterday, and came back home tonight, before the snow.
    She really appreciated us coming.
    At home I went straight to the garden to dig out some plants, to put them inside.
    There will be frost for over a week.

    Very personal stuff here but I’ve been watching videos about the Ravi Z debacle and have learned something about myself. Throughout many years of counseling both Christian and secular I’ve worked very hard to try and “rebuild” my “self” into the person I was meant to be. That never worked. Never. How I’ve longed to be healthy. More abuse by Christians kept driving my attempts downward. Until I finally gave up and decided I did not fit or belong at church. After hearing some pastors’ Godly remarks I have finally understood that none of the abuse was my fault- not how I looked acted or talked even. I was raised- through no fault of my own- to be a prostitute- literally taught by my own father how to please men. Pleasing pastors led to abuse when I stopped pleasing them. But they being Christian authority figures I never told anyone assuming it was my fault.

    I keep picturing the woman that washed Jesus feet with her hair. That is me. I can’t change who I am in the eyes of an abuser (boy did I try) but Jesus did! And He gave me wisdom through the years as to who to avoid. Lessons learned in the fire.

    I’m sorry if I’ve offended anyone but Marts post has been marvelous for me as I am still finding out the depths of the love of Christ in cracked vessels. And I pray other cracked pots can know the height depth and breadth of His love. A love that says go and love others as I have loved you.

    Beloved, there are many revelations of victims of abuse here and a lot of it happened in institutions where religious orders were suppose to be taking care of children and instead they abused them or at the very least closed their eyes to it.

    It makes me realize how little we know about what is going on around us as we assume children are safe in their homes or care homes and it turns out it just isn’t the case.

    It’s a sad world we live in is all I can say.

    Part of the song, you gave, Beloved.
    Oswald Chambers often talks about sanctification:
    Work out what God has worked in you.

    In the song they ask God to crush in rebel lust, mortify etc..
    Chambers explains that God does that not do for us, we have to do that ourselves.
    With all our might, and ask God for help, in Jesus’ Name.

    Also the negative thoughts, God does not stop them, we have to stop them ourselves, and make our eyes look up to Jesus, and think positive bible truths.
    God will not stop them for us.
    It is a decision of our will:
    Stop these thoughts and praise Jesus, worship Him.
    And if we do not succeed in stopping them, we can cry out for help from God.
    And always sing songs of praise instead.

    The evil spitit world cannot stand praise of God, songs of praise.

    But we have to keep doing that, day after day, maybe for 20 years. And spiritual freedom will come, it sure will, some time.
    It is not for nothing that the NT bible often talks about perseverance.

    Here I have two people, who were bound to evil things, one woman who was abused, and in her mind came evil thoughts. And she asked God to prevent them from coming in. And it did not happen.
    I was trying to tell her she has to fight against them, with songs of praise, with bible verses.
    She waited on God to act instead. And she went to “healing” services, where christians prayed over her
    She said she needed deliverance.
    Maybe that is true, like Mary Magdalene, 7 evil spirits, she was freed from.
    But even then after they have gone out, you have to fill them with God’s love, God’s Words fill it to the full.

    The other one was a drug addict, he came to faith, the same, asking for prayer, he got disappointed 😞, and fell back into drinking, his setback was much harder the second time. Spiritually speaking.
    His name is Eric, if anyone gets a prayer for him…..
    That God will not let him go, but pick him up again. Bring him back in Jesus’ arms.

    God saves us, if He didn’t, we are lost. From certain sins God freed us at once. But many things (hidden or in the open) that there still renain God wants our involvement:

    The first person I spoke about, after 20 years, she finally got it: these thought she has to actively fight against. She does that now, she starts singing christian songs. She is not in despair anymore that these thoughts come in, like a victim, that overtake her. No she is God’s child, and takes up the sword of the Spirit, the helmet of salvation, Ephesians 6

    I think that the more we love Christ the easier it is to crush lust passion and desire. We love Him only because He first loved us. Do I love Him more than what the world can provide? There’s the rub. Once a decision is made- and we all make that decision on things great and small all the time- the joy of victory becomes His victory! And we bow to Him in thanksgiving and praise, knowing that another hour may bring another chance to decide. One thing I am learning is it’s never over. Not until we are Home finally.

    I daily sing psalms and hymns to keep my thoughts focused on Him although it’s not really that hard to do. It’s quite “natural” as the new creation I became when Jesus came into my life/heart.

    tough Bible study tonight on unanswered prayer. MS in an adult spouse and sever disability of a child. not the same family. asking that God would not only heal and comfort, but also change me. the only place that is going to happen is in His Presents. The LORD our refuge.
